(No 7)
Under the 1979 Nigerian Constitution, in order to be elected
President on the first ballot a candidate needed to receive
both the most votes nationwide and at least 25% of the
vote in two-thirds of the states. However, at the time of the
election, Nigeria had nineteen states, two-thirds of which in
exact figures is 12.66. A dispute thus ensued over whether
Shehu Shagari had received the necessary threshold by
winning 25% in twelve states and 19.9% in Kano State,
which Shagari claimed was two-thirds of the required 25%
threshold and represented the remaining 0.66 in the
constitutional threshold. Obafemi Awolowo claimed that the
threshold should be rounded up to thirteen states, which
Shagari had not met. The Supreme Court of Nigeria ruled in
favour of Shagari.

Parliamentary elections were held in Nigeria on 7 July 1979
for the first time since 1964 to elect a Senate and House of
Representatives on 14 July. The result was a victory for the
National Party of Nigeria , which won 36 of the 95 Senate
seats and 168 of the 449 House seats. [1] It formed a
coalition with the Nigerian People's Party in order to gain a
majority. [2] Voter turnout was just 30.7% in the House
election. [3]
Electoral system
Members of both houses were elected using the single-
member plurality electoral system. Each State was divided
into five districts, each of which elected a Senator. Each
State was also allocated a number of seats in the House of
Representatives based on its proportion of the population.

The witches & wizards

The witches & wizards

Sixtythree
the dress is soft there is no way am wearing it but all the same let me
put it one, I removed my body armor again and try the suit on, no
changes except the beautiful glass, I think the glass is a telescope, I
walk to the mirror and look myself I didn't see anything, I look down and
saw nothing, oh poo the suit is an invisible suit, this is what am looking
for self, I took a small sword and put it inside the suit and then take the
box, there is no way I can put the box inside the suit so only the magical
box will be visible, I came out of the room and then I went to the back to
look for a ship, I didn't see ship nor boat but I saw a small canoe, I took
it and push it to the Sea, I ran inside and started paddling the canoe to
the city of Babylon, people can see the canoe been paddled but they
can't see the paddler, I so much love this invisible suit.
I paddled out of the castle and entered inside deep waters with
dangerous fish swimming and diving above me looking for prey to eat, if
they can see me I won't even last more than five minutes in this water,
am not even close to Babylon yet, I paddled for hours and when I get
tired I will stop paddling and eat some bread I took from the castle, I
paddled for days before i reach Babylon, the place Babylon that we
conquered has already started growing. I remember when we destroyed
everything here and even the gates, I don't know if the people will
remember me but I don't want any crowd anyway, I just want to do my
thing and leave at once, I paddled to one bush close to the shore and
then I jump out of the boat, I took the boat out and covered it with
branches because I might need it again I don't know.
There are people everywhere and army with sword and spears, there is
no way I can pass through that gate without them noticing so I open the
suit and put the box in front of my stomach, it was uncomfortable but I
have to manage till I cross the gate.
I walk pass the people taking care of the seaport, they didn't notice me
though if they pay attention they will see my footprint, I walk to the gate
and wait for somebody to come out or go in because the gate is lock, I
can only go in with a second party, I remain there for long before i saw a
Chariot carrying warhead, they opened the gate and then I rushed in
quickly, the chariot enter and walk to the hidden chamber where the
trapped gods are, I quickly remove my suit and walk to one of the guards
inside the town, I ask him.
“What is going on and why the war head?”.
Guard: we want to bomb that chamber, we don't want it here.
Me: oh poo.
The witches & wizards

The witches & wizards

Sixtytwo
I woke up breathing heavily like a mad dog, I quickly check the box and
when I saw nothing happened then my mind calm down a little, I stood up
and walk to the river to see if I will see any girl but I didn't see any, I
concluded that it was only a dream so i return back to the castle and
went straight to the bathroom, I check the window to see if I will see the
girl but there was no sign of her, I drop the box beside one corner of the
bathroom And then I put on the shower, I relaxed in the shower for
almost one hour, enjoying the warm water and also thinking about my
life, I was thinking were to go if I leave here, if I decide to go meet my
friends, them Lizzy and all I might lose the box on the way, and then I
can't go to were Eve is because she might have gotten lose already and
then probably waiting for me to come so that she will strike and collect
the box, I just hope her powers are not back yet.
The best thing to do now is to go to Babylon and open the box, there
might be dangerous obstacles on the way but I have to try by all means,
Queen Olokun is the answer to all my problem, if she come she can
bring my town back and also my friends that lost their memory, I dont
know if she can fight Eve but she has be supporting me since day one so
there is no way she won't help defeat Eve the wicked Princess.
I manage to stand up from the tomb and then I put on my inner wear, I
didn't put on my dress I only took the box and walk out of the bathroom,
I look for the room they keep weapons and when I saw it I open it
without stress, the place is a real arsenal, no wonder we were able to
defeat the elements, there are armor and weapons too, I took one body
armour and put it on the armour fit me perfectly and it can also prevent
injury, it will be hard for any weapon to penetrate the armor, but it only
cover my neck down to my kneel leaving my hand, leg and head expose,
now that I don't have any powers i need full armor to succeed.
I took one long sharp sword and then I case it and put on my back like a
Pharaoh warrior, I took a strong rope and use it to tie the box round my
waist i don't want any regret later..
After arming myself and wanted to walk out of the room something fell
on the ground, I look back and walk to the place, I look at the helmet but
I don't want to wear because it's too heavy, I put it back ontop the box it
fell from, but wait oh what is inside the box?
I remove the helmet from the box and took the box down, I tried to open
it but the lock was too strong for fresh hand to open so I took a hammer
and used it to dismantle the box, I opened it and saw a soft black suit,
more like a spider man suit but this one is dark, complete dark, I hiss and
cover the box back I wanted to leave but something told me to try it on.

Any admission ‘done under the table

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has said it would not regularised any admission ‘done under the table’. JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede made this known on Tuesday during a meeting on admissions exercise/processes for Innovative Enterprise Institutions in Abuja. The registrar tasked institutions to maintain the standard the board set from the beginning saying ”From this year now, we are demanding records of the O levels of the candidates you are admitting and that is for the first time,” Mr. Oloyede further said: “When you recommend a person for admission we want to see what qualification he or she possesses not just you telling me that he or she scored 300 in UTME. What of the real qualification?” he said. He also said JAMB would stop the ”regularisation of all forms of illegal admissions conducted by tertiary institutions from this year.” ‘Any admission ‘done under the table’ would not be regularised. Candidates and tertiary institutions must desist from engaging in any form of illegal admission. ‘Illegal admission in terms of people not even taking the unified tertiary matriculation examination, UTME at all not to talk of scoring zero. Illegal admission by even admitting people who do not have the requisite ordinary level (O level) because before now JAMB does not have the record of their O level….”

JAMB to enforce provision of O-level results before admission

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has said it would demand for the records of Ordinary and Advanced Level results of candidates recommended by tertiary institutions before offering them admission.
JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede said this during this year’s meeting on admissions exercise/processes for Innovative Enterprise Institutions in Abuja on Tuesday.
The registrar said that institutions must maintain the standard set by the board beginning from this year’s admission.
”From this year now, we are demanding records of the O levels of the candidates you are admitting and that is for the first time,” Mr. Oloyede said.
“When you recommend a person for admission we want to see what qualification he or she possesses not just you telling me that he or she scored 300 in UTME. What of the real qualification?” he said.
He said the board would stop the ”regularisation of all forms of illegal admissions conducted by tertiary institutions from this year.”
“Any admission ‘done under the table’ would not be regularised. Candidates and tertiary institutions must desist from engaging in any form of illegal admission. Illegal admission in terms of people not even taking the unified tertiary matriculation examination, UTME at all not to talk of scoring zero. Illegal admission by even admitting people who do not have the requisite ordinary level (O level) because before now JAMB does not have the record of their O level (results).”
The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board, JAMB, is a Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions. The board conducts entrance examinations for prospective undergraduates into Nigerian universities. The board is also charged with the responsibility of administering similar examinations for applicants to Nigerian public and private monotechnics, polytechnics and colleges of educations.

High UTME score no guarantee for varsity admission –JAMB registrar

JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board says that only a combination of JAMB cut-off marks, post-UTME, ‘O’ level results and other admission criteria as determined by institutions can ensure candidates’ admission.
The JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this at an intensive training and sensitisation forum on Central Admissions Processing System for the 2017/2018 academic session on Thursday in Abuja.
Oloyede said that scoring higher than the minimum cut-off marks did not guarantee admission, though it does make candidates eligible for admission consideration.
He added that institutions determine the institutional, programme and course cut-off marks and other admission criteria in exercise of their autonomy.
According to him, the cut-off mark by JAMB is only a threshold below which no institution can admit candidates.
“JAMB is not an examination body; rather, it is a ranking body. If there are enough spaces in the tertiary institutions, there may not be need for UTME.
“JAMB is a screening body to rank already qualified candidates. It is a coordinating and clearing house.
“The cut-off mark is not a pass or fail mark. It is not the total score but one of many factors such as post-UTME (where applicable), ‘O’ Level results scoring, etc.,” he explained.
He added that regulating agencies such as the National Universities Commission, National Board for Technical Education, National Commission for Colleges of Education, among others, could decide the admission quota for institutions.
He further explained that JAMB introduced CAPS so as to ensure that every UTME candidate gets fair treatment.
Oloyede said with CAPS, candidates now have the choice to either accept or reject admission offer.
He, however, advised candidates to ensure that they indicate the acceptance or rejection of admission online and timely to enable the processing of their admission.
He urged institutions to comply with their advertised criteria for admission, including the cut-off marks.
